Gateway2Morocco app

Privacy — what the app keeps, and why

The Gateway2Morocco app exists for one reason: to run the trip you booked with us. It is used by the travellers on a trip, the driver who takes them, and our office. Everything below follows from that.

What the app stores

Your trip. The plan, the hotels, the flights you gave us, your driver's name and number, our numbers, the documents we attached, and what the trip costs and what has been paid. This is the same information that is in your proposal and our emails; the app is a better way to carry it.

Your email address. It is how you sign in: we send a 6-digit code to the address on the trip. No password is created and nothing else is asked.

What you send us from the app. Messages in the trip room, requests ("book a restaurant", "change a pick-up"), the flights you type, ticks on the get-ready list, and photos you choose to add to the trip album. A photo of yourself, if you add one, is shown to your driver so he recognises you at the airport, and on your contact card in our office.

Your phone, for notifications. If you allow notifications, the app registers a push token with us so we can tell you when your driver is on his way, when a message arrives, and when something on your plan changes. Turn notifications off in your phone's settings at any time; the app keeps working.

The driver's position, while he is coming to you. A driver who taps "On my way" shares his phone's position with the guests he is collecting and with our office until the guests are on board, or for three hours at most. Positions are kept for a day and a half, then deleted.

Diagnostics. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends us the error message, the screen it was on, the app version and the phone platform, so we can fix it. No contents of your messages or photos are included.

What the app does not do

It does not track your location — the travellers' app never asks for it. (Your driver may share his position with you from his own phone while he is on his way to collect you, from the moment he taps "On my way" until you are in the car; you see him approach on a small map. That is his choice, on his phone, and it stops by itself.) It does not read your contacts, calendar or other photos. It does not show advertising and does not sell or share your information with anyone outside the running of your trip. Your driver sees your name, your photo if you added one, your flight times and your phone number — what he needs to meet you — and nothing about money.

Who can see what

Travellers on the same trip see the shared album and the trip room. A person you invite to follow the trip sees the plan and the album, not the money or the messages. Our office sees everything on the trip, as it does today by email. Sessions can be signed out from any phone, and our office can revoke any phone's access at any time.

How long

Your sign-in on a phone lasts until thirty days after the trip ends, then it expires by itself. Trip records — the plan, messages, photos, flights — stay in our booking system as part of the trip file, the same as the emails we exchanged, because they are the record of the service we provided.

Your choices

You can remove your own photo and any photo you added to the album from inside the app. You can sign out of every phone from the app's Team tab. To have your data removed from our booking system beyond what the app shows, write to info@gateway2morocco.com and we will do it within thirty days, subject only to what the law requires us to keep for accounting.

Delete my data

Use this form and we will remove the data we hold about you — your trip file, messages, photos, flights and sign-ins — within thirty days, keeping only what accounting law requires (invoices and payment records). You will get a confirmation by email when it is done. This works whether or not you still have the app.
